| History of the club
In 1998 KWSC funded two administrative positions to manage this site. Significant capitol works were completed in the first year of the lease with renovation of the club house, resurection of sporting fields, roadways, lighting and maintenance equipment. Later in 1998 Shawspotz was registered as a company. Further upgrading of the outdoor facilities took place throughout 1999 and 2000. From January 2001, Shawsportz completed a complete transformation. Shawsportz has an onsite Sports Manager who invests significant time and effort in creating strong networks with schools and local clubs which has increased the usage of the site. The current facility at Shaw Road was first built 25 years ago by the members of the then Teachers-Norths Rugby Club, with the vision of catering to then needs of the north side rugby union community. With the demise of the rugby union club, and the vision of the KWSC, the clubhouse has been transformed into an up-to-date multi-sports facility that is user-friendly, and that will see the participating clubs catered for until the new redevelopment takes shape.
Burringbar Park In May 2001 Burringbar Park was completed and opened by the Deputy Premier and Minister for Sport the hon. Terry Mackenroth.
O'Callaghan Park Named after Father John O'Callaghan, the Zillmere and Districts Sporting CLub was established in 1940. He was closely associated with the sporting life of Nudgee College, thus sport continuing to be the driving force behind the Club. With the precinct being located on Zillmere Road it is well situated with it's already established reputation to create a standard in which not only local community sporting centres in Queensland seek to obtain, but also the rest of Australia. |
